Feb 8th, 2008 - my birthday!
We went up to sign papers and close on the construction loan. We also met with the contractor and most of the subs. We went to the granite shop and picked out the most gorgeous piece of granite for the kitchen to go with the rustic hickory cabinets! We still don't have a start date but as soon as Mother Nature will cooperate, they will break ground.

The stemwall has gone up so we can actually see the outline. We have a 4' crawlspace beneath the house.

The culvert was put in for water drainage and LOTS of gravel for the long road back to our house has been layed. We are over half a mile off the road.

More progress! The kitchen is taking shape and the counters are gorgeous. They look wonderful with the hickory cabinets.

Not much progress on our house this month as the contractor worked on our "neighbors" foundation. (Scott's parents are building a home next door to ours.) This week he came back to our house and started the framing. Here's the most recent pictures. Hopefully we'll see some progress now!

The floor is down and most of the exterior walls are up (except the master and the garage).

The trusses are up and the roof goes on this week. Plumber, electrician and cooling guys will all be running into each other to get their
stuff in place first. Things should start happening pretty quickly over the next 6 weeks. Move in date is supposed to be first week of August.

The most important room - the dog area! The roof is going on and the 3' footer has been done. Now we need fencing that goes up to the roof (remember Mr Bobcat??) and K9 grass.

June 28, 2008 - we have shade! Shingles go on this week.
The front of the house which faces north to the trees.
The back of the house which faces south to the field and mountains.
The dog area is on the west side of the house and the covered area on the deck is on the east.

Things are moving along - finally! We have windows, doors, drywall and it's ready for tape and texture inside and stucco outside.

August 22 - these pictures were taken by Scotts parents while they were up checking on their house. The stucco is done and ready for paint. The inside is painted, floors are down and cabinets go in the first week of Sept.

Sept 5th, 2008 - the stucco is painted but the trim isn't done yet. Floors are beautiful (but dirty!), cabinets are almost done and are also
very pretty! The granite has been measured and will go in about Sept 19th. We are getting closer!!

Next update will hopefully be that we've moved! It's looking like not until November. Unbelievable.
Our field was planted with grain this year (next year it will be grass/alfalfa again) and we discovered a gaggle of geese like to
visit us in the evenings! Sometimes they stay all night......HUNDREDS of them!
